If you do happen to have
the herpes virus, and you are not in a long term relationship, you should
abstain from sexual activity, especially when lesions or other symptoms
of herpes are present. Even if you do not have any symptoms you can
still infect your partner. You should always use a condom. You don't
want to risk infecting your partner because there is no cure for the
herpes virus and you wouldn't want them to suffer with you.
There are medications available
to treat genital herpes infections and prevent recurrent infections.
There are also some over the counter supplements that you can take,
such as those found above, on this page. It is important to note that
none of these treatments will get rid of the virus. To put it simply,
genital herpes cannot be "cured." The decision to use one treatment
over another for genital herpes depends on many factors that need to
be discussed with your doctor.
